Supplies:

Colour 2 needs: one 5″ x 15″ strip AND one 2-7/8″ x 11-1/2″ strip
Colour 3 needs: one 2-1/2″ x 10″ strip

***

  1. Colour 1 – Mark and cut a 5″ x 15″ strip into twelve 2-1/2″ squares
  2. Colour 2 – Then mark and cut a 5″ x 15″ strip into twelve 2-1/2″ squares
  3. Colour 3 – Cut a 2-1/2″ x 10″ strip into four 2-1/2″ squares
  4. Stack the Colour 1 and Colour 2 2-7/8″ x 11-1/2″ strips right sides together. ON the back of the top strip lightly draw in the 2-7/8″ square lines, then mark in the diagonals in the direction shown at left.
  5. Sew 1/4″ on each side of the diagonal lines, pivoting at the square lines. Cut apart on the square lines and on the marked diagonals, between the rows of stitching. This will give you eight half squares.
  6. Press seams to darker sides.
  7. Trim these back to be 2-1/2″ square if needed
  8. Piece four quarter blocks, using squares and half squares, then sew two rows of two-quarter blocks each, alternating seam pressing directions by row.
